I was born and raised in the United States, but my family now includes many members born and raised in Georgia.

The map I was given—the one that said what "normal" looked like, what success was, what belonging required—was wrong. Not maliciously. Just incompletely. It didn't include the terrain they walk. Updating the map isn't betrayal. It's honesty.
